Why Sara's Been Nominated:
"Early in her career, Sara realized that healthy women lead to healthy families; and healthy families lead to healthy communities. In her dedication to advancing women's health, she founded the Wisconsin Alliance for Women's Health, a non-profit dedicated to engaging, educating, empowering and mobilizing individuals and organizations to take a stand for women's health. In 2008, Sara led the Compassionate Care for Rape Victims Coalition, transforming many ordinary citizens into potent forces in the political process as they fought for social justice for sexual assault victims. In 2009, she coordinated a "Speak-Out" event, allowing women to raise their voices and share personal health care stories. In 2010, she hosted the first-ever Wisconsin Women's Health Policy Summit, encouraging over 300 women to stand and deliver on the promise for a healthier future. In 2011, she launched the SaveBagerCare Coalition, an effort to protect needed access to health care coverage. Sara's innovative spirit and ability to shepherd the involvement of women from all walks of life in an effort for social justice is unyielding. Her tenacity has carried many people and projects through to success, yet her humility precludes her from taking the credit she is due."
